Hello Sierra Club Activists,

Mountain Lions

Mountain Lions

I am the volunteer wildlife coordinator for the Chapter here in Oregon. I’ve been involved in wildlife and other animal issues for 20 years, the last 11 years in Oregon. I also work on companion animal overpopulation and other issues through SNYP (Spay Neuter Your Pet) in Medford Oregon where I live with my family of critters in a rural area.

I’ve always been fascinated with wildlife, their beauty and how evolution has outfitted and designed them for survival. With more and more people invading what used to be pretty much exclusively wildlife habitat, the potential and real conflicts between people and wildlife are on the rise. It is this challenge that inspired me to become involved with the Sierra Club; to promote and demonstrate that we can coexist with wildlife.

We all have a chance to keep the world and our own backyard in Oregon wild and natural for our furred, feathered and scaled neighbors by working together through the Sierra Club and by making the right choices within our lifestyles and how we vote at the ballot box. If you would like to get more involved and active for wildlife in Oregon, please check out this website and sign up for Wildlife Action Alerts. We track pertinent legislation, follow issues as they come before the Fish and Wildlife Commission and try to keep up with wildlife issues in Oregon.

You will receive Action Alerts periodically as input from us, Oregonians who care about wildlife, as needed. Alerts will make you aware of issues and how you can become part of resolving them in the best interests of wildlife and their habitat, such as writing, faxing and emailing decisionmakers, and attending hearings and meetings.

Thank you for your interest and for caring about the future of Oregon’s wildlife.
