What is the Inner City Outings Program?

The Sierra Club Inner City Outings (ICO) program gives low income or otherwise disadvantaged urban youth the opportunity to explore the forests, wetlands, mountains, beaches, and other natural areas surrounding their urban homes. For many youth, the city streets are the only environments they know.

Through ICO, we seek to help broaden their horizons. Local volunteer leaders work with a variety of youth organizations in the Portland area to enable these young people to get out and enjoy, and hopefully develop a lifelong appreciation for the outdoors.

If you are interested in volunteering with ICO or would just like more information contact Ann Marie Griffin.

Please Note: Before participating in an outing you must attend one of our monthly meetings.

We meet on the 3rd Thursday of every month at 7:00 PM at the Sierra Club Office at 1821 SE Ankeny. Be sure to check the Columbia Group Calendar to make sure we are meeting and you can then just show up.

You can also visit the National Sierra Club's ICO web site. This link opens a new browser.
