SAVE THE DATES:

WEDNESDAY MAY 14 PROGRAM - You've Been Invited! OFF HIGHWAY VEHICLES - COMING SOON TO YOUR BACKYARD?
Wed May 14 - 7 pm - Bella Union Restaurant (upstairs), 170 W. California Street, Jacksonville.

Attend this important program and learn what the community can do to oppose increased Off Highway Vehicle (OHV) use in our area forests. The BLM is considering 13 OHV "emphasis areas" in southwest Oregon, stretching from Ashland to the Illinois Valley, and the Forest Service is undertaking a Travel Management Plan process. If you are worried about increased OHV use in your neighborhood, then attend this program presented by KS Wild and Rogue Group. Editor George Wuerthner will also read from his new book Thrillcraft: The Environmental Consequences of Motorized Recreation. With over 100 stirring photographs and powerful essays from policy experts, scientists, and environmental activists, Thrillcraft bears witness to the impacts of motorized recreation on the beauty, silence, and splendor of our country's natural world. George Wuerthner is a professional photographer and author of more than two dozen books on natural history and other environmental topics. There will be a raffle for Thrillcraft books. Event is free, plenty of free parking. Arrive early and enjoy dinner or a snack (you pay) before the program. There will be coffee service at the program. For more info contact Kristin Biechler 840-7236. (posted May 5, 2008)
